In collaboration with EpilepsyNett and the regional health authorities, we have developed Need-Based Epilepsy Follow-up – a mobile-based solution where people with epilepsy regularly report to the hospital about their health status. This information makes it possible to individualize and target follow-up, so that patients get the right help at the right time.
The research project evaluates the safety, efficacy and user experiences of this model of health service organization. The goal is to investigate whether needs-based follow-up can provide improved quality of life, more efficient use of resources and equal or better medical care compared to traditional follow-up.
The project is a national collaboration led by Professor Marte-Helene Bjørk (University of Bergen) and research leader Marte Roa Syvertsen (Vestre Viken HF), and is funded by regional research funds and the Research Council of Norway.
