
A first epileptic seizure can be frightening, and many experience delays before receiving a definitive diagnosis. EPI-NY is a prospective observational study that investigates how common first seizure-like events are in Bergen and the surrounding area, and follows patients before and after a possible epilepsy diagnosis.
The study specifically looks at the use of EEG and the potential for artificial intelligence to improve interpretation, with the goal of strengthening diagnostics and follow-up, including the possibility of first-episode clinics in Norway.
The study is led by senior consultant Jan Brøgger .
