Clinical headache studies

Through our partnership with the Norwegian Center for Headache Research (NorHead), BergenBrain operates a clinical research unit that conducts both interventional and observational studies within various headache disorders. We research new treatment methods and technology, investigate which treatment is most effective, and test whether established treatments for other diseases can also be useful for headaches (so-called drug repurposing).

The following studies are ongoing or planned to be started:

  • Atorvastatin for migraine, a randomized placebo-controlled trial: StatinMig

  • Study on artificial intelligence and migraine treatment: MigPred

  • Mobile-based Biofeedback for Tension Headaches, a Randomized Waitlist Controlled Study: BioTenCer

  • Candesartan for cluster headache: a randomized placebo-controlled trial: CandClus

Completed studies

  • Candesartan for cluster headache: a randomized placebo-controlled trial CandMig

  • Blockade of the ganglion for chronic migraine, a randomized placebo-controlled trial: MiBlock

  • Eptinezumab and cognitive intervention for medication-induced headache, a randomized, placebo-controlled phase IV trial: RESOLUTION

  • Biofeedback for episodic migraine, a randomized waitlist-controlled trial: BioCer
